| If we would as a society make the family the fundamental unit of government, behave our selves, practice the ten commandments, practice judeo-christian values our social welfare costs would be greatly reduced. If we would become more involved with our childrens education we would have better results. If we would spend more effort taking care of grandma and less on entertainment we could lower taxes. Self centered living and lawless behavior is very costly and we pay for that with taxes. | |||
| With a possible 200 million a year state defecit we need to maintain our tax base. Lowering taxes for one group shifts burden to another. We could lower taxes and downsize government if we could greatly reduce government (local, school,county, city and state) spending on confernences, meals, travel, lodging, study groups, research that duplicates prior research, excess administration and regulation. University system should be consolidated from 5 to 3 units. We should make state income tax a % of the federal tax. We should eleminate tax incentives and credits. | |||
| Our budget problems are not caused by our working poor or our helpless. Our problems come from Washington DC. Excess militarisim, defecit spending, destruction of our dollar with fiat money, control of our education with "No Child left Behind", buying votes with special deals for special groups, bailouts for the super rich and failure to protect our borders. My Governor will present a balanced budget for consideration. He will maintian his legacy of concern for the have nots. | Support an annual 45 day session rather than 90 day every other year. This would allow the people through their legislators more control on the State Administration. We need to make county elections bipartisan. We need to treat Independents running for state wide office fairly. Independents are required to obtain 5% qualified signatures of last elections winners vote. This would help offset the extremists that polarize our parties which leads to a toxic enviroment in Helena. | |||

| Dangerous people should be locked up. We can not afford to keep increasing the size of our prison population. We should review our mandatory sentance guidlines. We should allow our judges more freedom to use their common sense. Fewer laws- more common sense-more mercy- smaller government. | |||

Having served on school boards I strongly oppose national education funding which bring mandates, controls and increased spending. Local control is destroyed. Federal control of education creates great risk to our freedom. We do well in Montan with local control. Tuition freeze is a form of price control that results in low University salaries, prevents new programs, prevents expansion of programs, destroys opprotunity. Our universities are a bargain. | |||

| Montana Children are getting a raw deal. CHIPS-Chidrens Health Insurance Program is being thrown out in 2013. We are supposed to replace CHIPS with half the children being placed on Medicaid and other half supposedly covered when their parents are forced to buy"Insurance Exchange Plans". We will fine business and individuals who do not purchase insurance. We have placed another obstacle for a small business to hire anyone. This is a result of our two Senators in Washington listening to lobbyists. We need Health Care reform but we also need freedom. | |||

Laws to cover behavior problems, meaness, and lack of courtesy lead to unintended consequnces and loss of our freedom. Affirmative action may be needed to place residents of our Indian Nations in training programs for Health Care providers. Tribal members with their strong culture of family values would be more likely to return to underserved areas. | |||
| I am a childrens advocate - sponsered and supported legislation for childrens health and public education during the 2005 and 2007 sessions. As an Independent I willcontinue those efforts. Lets work to leave our granchildren a free country, with limited government but include mercy for the poor, helpless and hurting. I will reintroduce legislation to reduce teen suicide, to reduce stigma for the victims of mental health disease, to increase recreational public access and bring fairness to our property tax system. |
